Hush Hush: Conversations with Myself
Concrete Assembly is an artist-led collective composed of Pietro Bardini, Cosima Cobley Carr and Maisie Linford, who met in 2017 as members of the Barbican’s Young Visual Arts Group, learning from established artists, devising workshops at Barbican OpenFest and producing work for and curating Common Ground.
This exhibition supported by Arts Council Englang will be at Yinka Shonibare’s East London gallery, Guest Projects, this summer. It features works by Dagmar Schürrer, Melanie Eckersley, Cosima Cobley Carr and Pietro Bardini.
Hush Hush: Coversations with Myself focuses on the concept of dialogical self, a theory that uses self and dialogue to better understand self and society. The artists works highlight and challenge how we relate to our environment of material and the ever-increasing array of immaterial and digital objects, how one’s individual voice is affected by our online representations, the relationship between individuality and creativity, as well as how we relate to those whose inner lives seem strange or unfamiliar.
Alongside the exhibition is an events program that hopes to encourage a broader conversation and connection to the works, with drinks available thanks to our drinks sponsor Old Blue Last Beer.
